In order to get a good job nowadays it seems you have to know someone. Not everyone knows someone, which makes their lives very difficult.
Here are some tips on getting a job. First, apply online at a bunch of places whether they are hiring or not. Next, wear nice clothes, the nicer the clothes the better. Just remember, dress for success. Go to all those places and ask to speak to their manager. When the manager comes out, tell him/her your name, shake their hand, and ask if they are hiring. If they say yes, tell them that you applied and that you are interested in working for their company. By doing this they will look up your application and take it into consideration because you made a good impression on them. Last, make sure you get their name too, so the next time you come in you can ask for that specific manager who already knows you. Also be consistent, go back to the place of business a few times and ask for the manager when the interviews will start, you may think you are being a pest, but that's good. The more often you come back, they will start to think of you a pest and to make you stop coming, they might set you up for an interview or maybe offer you a job. It's happened before, so it never hurts to try.
If the manger says that they are not hiring, ask them when they will be hiring next and when you should reapply. Write down the date somewhere and apply when you reach that date and repeat everything in the last paragraph.
This doesn't always get you a job, but a lot of times it gets you an interview. Then when you are in the interview, dress for success, speak clearly, don't say anything negative, don't swear, don't chew gum, but make sure you brush your teeth, sit up straight, and always ask questions after the interview is over. This shows the interviewer that you have a lot of interest in the job. It's also good to tell the interviewer that you have an open schedule, even if you don't you can always change it when you get hired, but you say this because they may need someone on a certain day and they don't have anyone so they will consider you.
I hope this helps all of you who are currently looking for a job. Good luck to you all.
"make sure you brush your teeth" is GREAT advise!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks. It's also a good idea to have mints handy just in case you are not at home when you get a call for an interview.
